Several reports have come out stating that while Dez Bryant and Cowboys are getting closer to a deal being done, but the Cowboys aren’t overly concerned that he will miss any games.
The latest report that the Cowboys don’t buy it wasn’t a surprise. Neither was the report that the Cowboys believe Bryant needs the money; as Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said on Friday’s PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio, the Cowboys have known all about Bryant’s total financial condition for years, since the team has been helping him manage it.
If a team is managing your money to the point they know exactly how much you have and how much debt you have, that can hurt you in negotiations. It isn’t a secret that Dez blew through a lot of his rookie contract fairly quickly. There were lawsuits about jewelry and other things that came up. This isn’t unusual to happen to young player when they get into the NFL.
The majority of time the teams hold all the power and leverage, it seems the Cowboys are using it against Dez Bryant.
Business never personal.
