This will let you know just how much the fans love Floyd Mayweather.
Ring Magazine is reporting that after some back and forth haggling with CBS, Mayweather Promotions is headed towards a pay per view platform for their bout with Andre Berto.
Big goings on in Rumorville, as a source tells THE RING that Floyd Mayweather won’t be offering up a freebie for fans, and instead of fighting on CBS, he will be back on pay-per-view, Sept. 12, versus Andre Berto.
CBS was on the table, hard, but ultimately, the source tells us, money matters, and how to get Floyd the amount he desires wouldn’t be so clear if it was done on “free” TV.
A mass of eyeballs would have been a bonus, the thinking seems to be, but the PPV model will lead to the payoff Floyd seeks as he tries to get to 49-0.
I agree with a lot of the skeptics.
How can Mayweather and all those involved, expect fans to be comfortable about coming out their pockets for an expensive pay per view that could be a dud, or one-sided?
