Many fans started speculating of the possibility of Ronda Rousey starring as Captain Marvel. It seems like Kevin Feige is feeling this idea too.
Ronda Rousey has been winning hearts over with her athleticism in the UFC ring and outside of the ring, big plans are in her near future. She has some big projects coming up including a biopic and remake of the film Roadhouse. With that said, will Rousey maybe take a turn and attempt to win comic book lovers’ hearts? Some think that she would be a perfect fit to star as Captain Marvel. Marvel’s President Kevin Feige, for one, “Loves this idea.”
“I love it,” Feige told IGN.
“You look at the ways we’ve cast our films in the past and it’s always about who’s the best person to inhabit the character, whether that is an actor like Chris Hemsworth who bulks up (to play Thor), or a wrestler like Dave Bautista who played Drax (in Guardians of the Galaxy) who ends up being an amazing performer, an amazing actor and a clever and witty and pointed comedic actor,” Feige said. For us, it’s sitting down with people and starting to meet people and as the script takes shape and as we start to build who the character should be and finding the right person to match it up. We haven’t necessarily started sitting down with people yet and meeting on that part.”
This crossover from athlete to actor/actress is a tough one because comic book fans can be very unforgiving and harsh if you ruin their character. If selected, Rousey would have to go through massive training.
