Tony Romo has become the consummate leader of the Dallas Cowboys, and this story from Dez Bryant explains why Jerry Jones can go from the ledge, to singing in the shower.
The night before Romo made his return from a broken left collarbone, Dez Bryant says the quarterback stood in front of the team, and delivered a powerful message.
“Outstanding,” Dez Bryant said. “Felt it. I got chills. I’ll tell you that. He talks to us, but that was kind of different. I think he already got all our respect. I think he just made all of us play a little bit different and be more focused with everything because he was basically telling us, you know, he needs us and we have to be there for him.
“I think we did that. We tried our best and we can only get better
Romo agreed, saying the team never gave up as they awaited his return.
“Our football team never let up,” Romo said. “The tough part is when that doesn’t produce results because then it gets tougher each time. The fact that they have committed to this and just getting better, and then let the results happen later, has just been a great thing to see.”
Now they just need to win six straight, with the mighty 10-0 Panthers coming to town.
