Are the Broncos trying to make Peyton Manning look bad, or is this just the standard practice?
Peyton Manning is out of the lineup and out of the loop on everything Broncos according to NFL Media’s James Palmer, who reported on NFL Network’s TNF Gameday, that the Broncos want the injured quarterback to focus strictly on rehab and treatment.
With Brock Osweiler set to make his first start, they don’t want him involved in any way as the Broncos prepare for their Week 11 game against the Chicago Bears.
Palmer has spoken to more than two dozen Broncos players. Each one has said they’ve heard of no timetable for a potential Manning return. Teammates don’t even know the specifics of Manning’s injury issues, though several assumed the foot is the primary concern. He underwent an MRI on his rib cage Monday, but Broncos coach Gary Kubiak told Palmer the results were negative.
According to Palmer, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak prefers Manning puts his full focus on treatment and getting healthy. Denver officials haven’t decided if Manning will make the trip to Chicago this weekend.
Manning is suffering from a torn plantar fascia and will miss his first start since 2011, but is still vital to any Super Bowl chances the Broncos have.
