Sam Bradford Makes His Case For Staying in Philly

Sam Braford vs skins
Despite last night’s crushing 38-24 loss to their division rivals, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford says if given the opportunity, he’d like to return to Philadelphia next year.

“I want to be back here. Obviously, we are not at the stage where we have been talking about that, but if it does present itself and I do have the opportunity, then this is where I want to be.”

Bradford’s mega rookie contract was the last of its kind. The Rams former no. 1 overall draft pick is wrapping up a 6-year, $78 million deal he signed in 2010. While offseason negotiations were possible, they never came to fruition.

This leaves the Eagles front office with a few big decisions. First, they must determine if Chip Kelly will remain head of football operations after an offseason filled with questionable roster moves. Then, they will have to decide whether or not Bradford is worth bringing back. The Eagles gave up a lot to get him including their starter last season and draft picks, so it’s unclear if he is expendable.

Mobile quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III will be available this year and bringing them to Philadelphia would make intriguing options for Kelly’s uptempo offense. However gaining consistency seems to be high on Bradford’s mind.

“I think throughout my career, I’ve learned that learning new offenses every year, it’s just hard to continue to improve. You are always learning. You are learning new verbiage, learning new plays, learning new systems. And I would really like to stay in the same one and have the opportunity to play a second year.”

Bradford has thrown 17 touchdowns against 13 interceptions with 3,405 passing yards so far this season.
