Kristaps Porzingis was booed when Adam Silver called his name during the NBA draft last summer and even Phil Jackson admitted that it would take him couple years to adapt to the NBA but the Knicks rookie took the league by storm and has been playing beyond expectations in Derek Fisher’s system. He is not only a Knicks’ favorite but he is cheered around the league and the jersey sales numbers are here to show it.
Porzingis ranks 4th in Jersey sales only behind Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. I’m not sure anybody would have predicted this at the beginning of the season but credit to the Latvian for overcoming the struggles of a foreign player, the complexity of playing in New York and just the fact he’s a rookie trying to figure it out.
