At 31-6 the San Antonio Spurs have the 2nd best record in the league. Although much talk has surrounded the Warriors win streak and run. The surging Thunder and Cavs teams. Or the dark horse Clippers team. The Spurs are quietly 21-0 at home and winners of 6 straight. Add the fact that the Spurs have the highest points differential in the league at 14.2.
But despite all this success, the Spurs still have zero projected All-star starters. Kawhi Leonard with 330,929 votes is the closest to starting but will have to over take Draymond Green. The closest Spurs guard in voting is Manu Ginobili and it’s impossible to think he’ll be able to over come the Western Conference guards ahead of him in voting. I’m sure Kawhi will be selected as a all-star reserve but that will leave just one all-star for the 2nd best team.
In the end fans vote who they want to see, I don’t think Coach Pop and the rest of the Spurs will lose any sleep over not being All-stars. The ultimate reward for them will be a NBA Championship not an all-star appearance.
