Retired world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been making the rounds on a world tour over the past few months — and during an ironic stop in Cannock, England — explained why he didn’t fight guys like Amir Khan, Keith Thurman and others.
“I couldn’t fight everyone. It has to make business sense,” Mayweather replied.
Mayweather also indicated that he currently has no interest in returning or breaking the unbeaten streak of heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano.
“I didn’t go into the sport really focusing on breaking records, I got into the sport to display my skills. Rocky Marciano, what he did, he is a legendary champion and a great person. But I don’t want boxing to retire me. I wanted to retire from the sport with all of my faculties,” Mayweather said.
We can only wait and see if someone out there can lure Money Mayweather out of retirement for one final, “huge” payday.
