After having one of the best seasons in Washington Redskins franchise history — many expected quarterback Kirk Cousin to be sitting on a $100 million deal at this point.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports — the two sides are “nowhere close to a new deal” following the Super Bowl — and Washington may just decide to franchise Cousins — swallowing the $20 million price tag for one season at least.
Cousins threw for 4,166 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season — cementing himself as the franchise quarterback.
Teams can start using the tag tomorrow — while continuing to work towards a long term deal by March 1.
