The second round continues in Spokane today when (5) Maryland takes on (13) Hawaii- who upset (4) in the first round. It was not only their play on the court, but their incredible fan base who traveled nearly 3,000 miles to see their team play. They were by the loudest and most excitable group; granted they did have a lot to cheer about.
Stefan Jankovic has helped propel his team to what could be a deep run into the tournament. The 6’11 forward has a beauty of a shot combined with some serious tenacity when it comes to rebounding. He looks and plays like the new age basketball player- he is tall, can handle the ball, plays defense, and can shoot from deep. A hard skill set to stop. In the first round versus Cal, Jankovic made his money by going to the line and hitting 6-6 free throws; scoring 16 points in just 18 minutes.

On the other side, Jake Layman from Maryland hit a game-high 27 points (5-8 from 3, 8-8 from the stripe). South Dakota State couldn’t shut him down, but Jankovic has the body and the skill to do. 
Hawaii guard Roderick Bobbitt took charge in the game, playing 40 minutes and grabbing 7 rebounds to go along with his 17 points and 4 assists. Maybe the most impressive: 0 turnovers.
To finish, their 34-year old, first-year head coach Eran Ganot somehow has the poise to be the calm presence his team needs in the midst of the chaos that is March Madness.
