Villanova University is rallying around some unlikely support they are getting from ‘The Simpsons’ TV show. During the opening credits of the latest episode, Bart Simpson is writing his customary chalk board punishment and the words were changed to read, If Villanova Doesn’t Win We Lose Everything.
You may think this is due to a cast member or writer that went to the school, but au contraire mon frère , it’s not that simple. Apparently, the reason for the support is from an old episode in which a drunk Barney Gumble tells Homer he’s been lecturing at Villanova. Check out the video below:
Villanova also has a Simpson Hall for engineering, but that looks to be coincidental. However, Villanova is also very close to Springfield, PA, so there may be more to it than just the Barney Gumble clip.
