A starting lineup of DeAnglo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle could be fun — but the addition of a rim protecting big to start fast breaks, could have some reminiscing about Showtime.
According ot Marc Stein of ESPN.com — the Lakers will be full go on Miami Heat free agent center Hassan Whiteside from the jump.
The Los Angeles Lakers plan to aggressively pursue Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside when NBA free agency starts, according to league sources.
With rim protection and perimeter shooting ranking as the Lakers’ foremost areas of concern heading into the open market, sources told ESPN.com that Whiteside has emerged a priority target for L.A.
Whiteside is a double-double machine, and could speed up the learning curve defensively for all four of the young guys on the perimeter.
Whiteside averaged 14.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and a league-leading 3.7 blocks per game last season, and is expected to receive max offers from the Mavericks and Blazers as well as the Miami Heat who would love to have him back.
