Michael Jordan has finally done what the African-American community has wanted for as long as I can remember, he spoke on the racial tension in America.
Today, Michael Jordan didn’t just send a lengthy letter about wanting change, he put his money where his mouth is. Jordan donated $2M to the Internal Association of Chiefs of Police’s Institute for Community-Police Relations and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Jordan has never used his platform to speak on social issues, but its refreshing to seeing him start now, even if you feel it’s a little late. Better than never.
One of his colleagues, Carmelo Anthony, spoke today on Michael Jordan.
Melo: "To answer your question about the Michael Jordan thing it was brilliant and about time… He is our face."

Melo has been working hard starting dialogue and holding town meetings about police brutality and the strife of African-American lives in America.
I’m not sure what sparked Jordan’s recent emergence into the social ring, but its long overdue. One answer that I am leaning on is seeing the younger generation take lead and doing something he never did. From Chris Paul, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and the courageous women of the WNBA, Jordan is seeing countless young folks taking this serious. As the face of basketball, whether he likes it or not, his voice and leadership is needed.
