Nate Diaz is one of the more interesting characters in the UFC and his way of fighting and thinking is what separates him from the pack.
For example, Nate Diaz talked about preparing himself to get knocked out heading into the fight and surprising himself when he wins.
“I write it off from the beginning like, ‘I’m probably gonna get knocked out,'” Diaz said. “Just take that and accept it. And then go in there and make it happen. When it doesn’t happen, when you come out with a win, that’s pretty exciting.”
Fighters are thought of as blindly optimistic, and borderline arrogant, when it comes to their skills but Nate says that’s all a front.
“They’re all full of it. I’m a realist, man,” Diaz said. “I accept the fact that there’s a probability you’re gonna get taken out and it’s gonna be pretty embarrassing. I accept that and go out there and don’t let it happen. And hopefully come out on top.”
If Nate thought this way heading into his first fight with Conor then the method works perfectly fine for him.
