If you were are traveling to the Rio De Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics, the Zika Virus may be among the least of your concerns. In developing news, travelers to the South American country are being met at the airport by Police and Fire personnel with signs that state “Welcome to Hell.” In addition to the airport protests, signs and graffiti are appearing through out the city stating “Welcome we don’t have hospitals.”
According to Buzzfeed News, the safety employee airport protest is part of a wider protest by state officials who have not been paid in a timely manner for services rendered. Despite the fractured relationship with safety personnel, officials feel the Games will not be affected and will proceed as planned. On Friday Brazilian media sources reported that a decree had been approved to release 850 million dollars in emergency government money so that employees can provide essential public services.
