Prince Fielder’s career is over thanks to a neck injury, but because baseball contracts are some of the best in sports he will be getting paid handsomely until the year 2020.
Thankfully for the Rangers they won’t bear the full brunt of that $24 million annually.
So of Fielder's $24 million, Rangers will get $6 million from Tigers; $9 million from insurance. Still responsible for $9 million

If he was an NFL player he would only get what was in his injury guarantee and certainly not the full amount of his contract.
Remember the NFL is the sport where every play they are banging each other in the head.
