When I wrote earlier about their being two different Americas this is exactly what I meant. Cops themselves should want to end police brutality so people don’t feel the need to protest against it.
White privilege though leads them to believe a person speaking out about injustices should apologize to them.
How backwards is that?
The San Francisco Police Officers Association is demanding an apology from the 49ers and the NFL — claiming “your employee” Colin Kaepernick has disrespected cops ... and they won’t stand for it.
The SFPOA — the largest union representing the S.F.P.D — has fired off a letter to 49ers owner Jed York and NFL commish Roger Goodell to address the “recent ill-advised statements” made by quarterback.
“We will not stand by while he attacks police officers killed in this country with statements such as ‘People are on paid leave while people of color are killed.'”
Here is the thing, cops are on paid leave for murdering black people and 99% of them get off, so what Kaepernick is saying is true.
The cops would rather attack the messenger than acknowledge the message and that is why we still have major issues in this country.
By the way the SFPD can get around to apologizing for for this.
