A former Pearl Cohn High School teacher was charged with five counts of statutory rape Thursday for allegedly performing sex acts on five 17-year-old boys between September and November of 2014, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
The MNPD’s Sex Crimes Unit began investigating Marquita Alston, 24, on Nov. 24, 2014, after Pearl Cohn’s principal contacted police in regard to disturbing information she had received about the teacher, police said.
In the following months, detectives interviewed multiple people including students, where they were told that Alston had sexual contact with several teens.
Police said some of that contact may have occurred on the Pearl Cohn campus.
She’s been released on $1000 bond.
