Ty Lawson may be down to his last chance after his recent struggles with alcohol. Now with the Kings, Lawson has committed himself to the team this off-season, and had a good training camp and preseason, up until last week where he missed a team flight and preseason game for pesonal reasons
ESPN’s Marc Stein shared these details:
Sources told ESPN.com that Lawson was late to a Kings shootaround in Las Vegas earlier this week, then missed the team’s trip east before Saturday night’s Sacramento/Washington preseason game at the University of Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, which represented a homecoming of sorts for Kings star DeMarcus Cousins and Wizards counterpart John Wall.
The Kings attributed Lawson’s absence from the lineup in Lexington to “personal reasons.” He has since returned to Sacramento, sources said, and faces an uncertain future with his new team after the week’s events.
Lawson has four DUI arrests in the past year and has bounced around from Denver to Houston to Indiana, due to his problems with alcohol. Hopefully, what is occurring here is not a relapse, but given his history, it is likely that the Kings will heavily scrutinize his explanation for the recent events.
