An integral piece to the Cavs championship defense hopes has finally signed and all is well in Cleveland. LeBron is pleased that JR Smith is back just before the season starts, and it shows that once again, what LeBron wants, LeBron gets.
It is no secret that LeBron is consulted on personnel moves, and his imprint is all over the current championship roster. Much like last year’s drawn out Tristan Thompson negotiation, JR Smith’s deal dragged on until they very last minute. And just like last year, we all knew that JR Smith would be with Cleveland when it was all said and done, because that is what LeBron wanted.
When LeBron’s career is over and we look back on his accomplishments, his ability to architect teams and control personnel will stand out as a unique power that very few athletes have ever commanded. It can be used as another notch in his cap during current and future Jordan vs. LeBron debates.
