Lil Wayne has been known to show love and respect for his native city, New Orleans. Now the top charting rapper is bringing a fully enhanced skate park to the city. Lil Wayne was encouraged to do this good deed by the huge response of the 2nd Annual Lil Weezyana Fest. This event took place in August where it hosted a pop-up skate park, courtesy of OC Ramps. The fest also included different southern artists Migos, 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti, Mystikal performing. Skate fans also enjoyed pro skaters Dave Bachinsky, Jordan Hoffart, Tom Ryen and Christian Sereika as they hit the ramps for an exhibition. After the festival, a decision was made to keep the park local rather than moving back to California.

This was also encouraged to give back to the city. New Orleans had sustained billions of dollars in damage due to one of the season’s worst storms. The OC Ramps material would be moved to the city’s Parasite skate park. “We figured this is the least we can do in a moment of crisis,” a rep for OC Ramps stated.
We hope more rappers look at Wayne’s initiative and get inspired and involved on change for their home cities.
