Report: Romo Interested in offseason Trade to Broncos

When Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo stepped to the podium Tuesday and delivered his courageous speech about conceding to Dak Prescott, he was also confidently telling the other teams around the league, I’m still a really good player.

Tony Romo is the epitome of team first, but it looks likely he’ll be the signal caller for a new team, and one AFC West has caught his eye according to Ian Rapoport.

Romo, I’m told, already has eyes on the Broncos as a possible destination if general manager John Elway decides Paxton Lynch needs another year and that Trevor Siemian isn’t the guy. Other options, depending on a variety of factors, include the Bears, Jets, Cardinals, and Bills. When the Cowboys do trade him, they’ll still have to deal with about a $20 million salary-cap hit. Romo will have significant say in the matter given that he will need to renegotiate his deal. He, essentially, could veto any move.

The battle will be centered around Jones wanting to keep Romo a Cowboy, for legacy purposes alone. Jones will try to convince Romo in the coming months, that being a highly paid backup qb, on a super bowl contender, isn’t a bad deal.
