After the Jets lost a very decisive game against the Dolphins, many are wondering if Todd Bowles is in control of his team. At this point, its safe to think that but he denies that.
Have the Jets playoffs’ hope flown out the window? If you think about it, it might be safe to say yes and it’s time to plan out the 2017 NFL Draft. The Jets lost to the Dolphins on Sunday by a score of 27-23 as the Dolphins came back from behind to win it. Dolphins’ Jay Ajayi rushed for 111 yards but on the flip side, we saw Jets’ quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick throw 193 yards and land 1 touchdown. The frustration was seen on their sideline. It’s the inevitable anger that’s starting to arise but the question here is, are the Jets dysfunctional and thus, has Bowles lost control?
“Not at all,” Bowles said during a conference call Monday. “I know what reality is, so we know what everything is inside this building and we’re a close-knit group.”
Brandon Marshall didn’t want to leave because he trusts his coach. Other players have come out and trust his plan. Are the Jets truly dysfunctional? They look good on paper but the field chemistry is still not quite there.
He said he feels good about the Jets’ locker room, calling it “one of the best I’ve been in.” He was lukewarm, however, when asked if he thought every player was committed to a common goal.
Bowles kept it real and he also took some responsibility.
Bowles has taken his share of the blame, too, and had missteps in his play calls throughout the season.
“I haven’t done a good job,” he said. “We’re 3-6. It speaks for itself. I can do a lot better job of coaching.”
Sunday’s game against the Rams is now the focus. They play at home and want to bring a win for the fans. How will the game turn out? For starters, Bowles is still captain of the ship and says he has control of his team.
“Completely, yes,” he said. “I know me and I know how I address the team and I know how the team responds. I have no issues with that.”
The Jets face off on Sunday November 13 against the Rams at 1 pm.
