After a year of begging and pleading the UFC has finally caved and instituted a women’s featherweight division. The inaugural title match will be headlined by Holly Holm but there’s no mistaking that the promotion created the division and title for Cris Cyborg.
Cyborg is arguably the best female fighter in the world and could no longer drop to 140lbs to compete in UFC catchweight bouts. It led to the creation of this new division but recent events leave in question Cyborg’s future with the promotion.
USADA has informed Cristiane “Cyborg” of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition test on 12/5, per UFC.

Cyborg could face a lengthy suspension if she doesn’t come up with a viable excuse for the failed test. The division was already considered thin, losing Cyborg only weakens it more. It’ll be interesting to see if someone steps up to claim the void left by Cyborg.
Twitter on the other hand wasn’t so understanding of the situation.
