The 49ers have finally hired a new general manager and he comes from an unexpected place. Ex-NFL safety and current Fox Sports broadcaster, John Lynch, has reportedly been hired to a six year deal to become the 49ers GM.

This move by the 49ers is a bit surprising considering that Lynch has never been a general manager before, and was still rewarded with a six year contract. Lynch is best known as a hard hitting safety for the Tampa Bay Bucs and Denver Broncos. The 49ers are also expected to hire the Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, the son of Mike Shanahan, whom Lynch played for in Denver.
