First Ben Affleck quit as the director of the new Batman film, now new reports have surfaced that he does not want play the role of Batman at all. According to Collider’s John Campea, Ben Affleck has expressed that he wants out of the Batman role.
Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he wants out. He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore.”
“I’ve been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros., in an attempt to get out of being Batman. And if they do not let him out of being Batman, the standalone film that ultimately happens will be the last time we see Affleck as Batman.”
This news contradicts with what Affleck said two weeks ago after he left the director position.
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Either way, this news does not bode well for this latest Batman film, especially after the luke-warm reception to Batman vs. Superman. Wonder Woman and The Justice League movies are on the way, so Affleck should have some commitment to play Batman in the near future.
