Manziel Reportedly Volunteering For Random Drug Testing; Why It’ll Actually Help NFL Comeback

Johnny Manziel is allegedly sober, his words not ours, and is doing everything in his power to get one more shot in the NFL.

The one time dynamic Texas A&M player and 1st round draft pick is hoping to compete for a roster spot on a NFL team this Summer. His first step is proving that he can stay out of trouble and is in fact clean.

According to several reports, Manziel plans to volunteer for random testing, which will show teams that he is committed to his second chance.

SportingNews’ Alex Marvez had the initial report:

“A source told Sporting News that Manziel soon plans to volunteer for testing under the NFL’s drug policy as part of his comeback attempt.

Manziel is considered a “Stage Two” offender under the league’s drug policy, which would subject him to random drug testing if signed by an NFL team. By volunteering for testing beforehand, Manziel would be showing potentially interested clubs he is committed to trying to salvage an NFL career that went off the rails.”

Not too long ago this is what we saw ‘Money’ Manziel doing.

Only time will tell if Manziel is a changed man but for now this is at least the first positive sign we’ve seen from him since he joined the NFL.
