The President sure does love the New England Patriots. In an article by The New York Times’ Mark Leibovich, President Trump takes a shot at commissioner Roger Goodell and supports his BFF’s Kraft, Belichick and Brady. Trump said:
The commissioner is a weak guy. When he made the Ray Rice deal, everybody said: You’re stupid. You’re weak. And it was such a weak deal. So now he’s going overboard with [New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady]. The commissioner is a dope. He’s a stupid guy.
Name calling is nothing new from the President, he has done that his whole life. Now that he has the biggest pulpit in the world it will only get worse. But, taking shots at Goodell is easy, everyone does it. Justified in many cases.
What is so fascinating is the President’s need for validation from people like Kraft, Belichick and Brady. The New England “Holy Trinity.” Discussing his relationship with the head coach, the President said:
So I go to the Patriots game last year. I’m on the sidelines with Kraft. He’s got [CBS chief executive officer] Les Moonves right here. He’s got a lot of different people. And Belichick comes over in his Patriots sweatshirt and the hoodie and the whole thing. He hugs me, and he kisses me, and he said: ‘I love you. You’re the greatest.’ He just feels warmly toward me, Belichick does. Isn’t that the craziest thing?
The President continues to flaunt his relationship with the Patriots while the Trinity tries to side step and avoid it. Particularly Belichick and Brady. Many people believe the President ascended to office under dubious circumstances. Many people believe the Patriots are cheaters. You know what they say. Birds of a feather…
