In the wake of the Kevin Durant injury, the Golden State Warriors picked up Matt Barnes as an emergency fill in at the small forward position.
The Warriors will reevaluate Durant in four weeks. According to reports, he’s expected to be ready for the playoffs, but everything is up in the air. If things don’t go as planned, Barnes will have to hold down the fork.
However, Barnes is facing a misdemeanor assault charge, which could affect his availability in the NBA Finals, but it appears his lawyer has come through in the clutch.
“I have reason to believe my client will be playing in the NBA Finals,” he said.
“Good luck,” the judge said before giving Barnes a June 27 return date.
If Durant doesn’t return, the Warriors may not have to worry about the Finals this year.
