Talk about dodging a bullet.
Steelers 2016 2nd round pick Senquez Golson avoided an ugly situation after Mobile police chose not to detain him after finding this gun in his luggage while he was trying to go through security at the airport:
TMZ sheds light on how Golson skirted the sliver bracelets and a whole bunch of negative media attention:
The 2016 2nd round draft pick was going through security at Mobile Regional Airport around noon Wednesday when they found a Glock .45 caliber pistol along with 23 rounds of ammunition in the magazine.
There’s a discrepancy over whether the gun can be considered “loaded” or “unloaded” since there was technically not a round in the chamber.
TSA alerted police and officers took the bag and escorted Golson out of the area.
Golson was NOT arrested. Instead, cops offered to hold the gun for him until he returned from his travels … at which time he could pick it up.
I’m not sure what exactly happened here, but whoever decided not to arrest & charge Golson is probably either a huge Ole Miss or Steelers fan.
I’m not sure why people keep trying to fly with guns, or forgetting them in their luggage but more times than not we’ve seen public figures hemmed right on up for way less, so Golson should be thanking his lucky stars to have avoided all of that.
