The build up to Saturday night’s Cinco de Mayo showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is reaching a fevered pitch as boxing fans from around the world descend on Las Vegas to watch two of boxing’s biggest stars square off at the T-Mobile Arena.
With no love lost between the two of them, the Mexican-born stars took their verbal jabbing to the chairs during their recent appearance on HBO signature series Face Off with Max Kellerman. With their clear disdain for each other shining through Chavez Jr. called Canelo a “good” champion that fights small opponents while Canelo says Chavez was “never a dignified representative of Mexico.”
Canelo continues to be the odds on favorite Saturday night but Chavez Jr. has the chance to make history and begin to emerge from the shadows of his legendary father.
