Alabama defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence. The Crimson Tide defender was arrested by the Tuscaloosa Sheriff Department and released on $1,000 bond.
Following the news of the arrest, Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban released the following statement:
“This type of behavior is not acceptable and we are disappointed in Da’Shawn’s actions. We are still gathering information and will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline as we move forward, so better choices and decisions can be made in the future.”
Hand, a Senior for the Alabama Crimson Tide, notched two sacks as a member of the Tide’s fearsome defense which reached the National Championship game last season. Alabama will open their fall camp next week.
