Reports confirm that ST. Petersburg police have arrested a man who reportedly “catfished” two teenage boys on separate occasions and sexually assaulted one of them.
Police arrested D’Andre Banks,25, and charged him with two counts of kidnapping and one count of sexual battery with a deadly weapon in separate cases.
Using Facebook as a way to lure young unsuspecting boys to a abandon home near MLK Street. Where in the home Banks was armed with a handgun which he used to further intimidate the victim before sexually assaulting him on June 29.
In a brief interview a family member of Banks said that he is not capable of such violent behavior, calling the accused a “God-fearing man.”
The second incident happened on July 17, 2017 were Banks again posed as a teen girl on Facebook and lured a 15-year-old boy to a vacant house located at 1830 20th Street South in St Pete, Florida. The boy was able to escape unharmed.
The police report states that Banks forced the teen into a closet, ordering him to take off his clothes. Neighbors tell ABC Action News that several complaints have been made to law officials concerning the residents. The landlord of the resident says he is now working with police.
Officials are asking for anyone with any information concerning the case to please call the St. Petersburg police. And if there are other victims to also come forward.
