Carmelo Anthony’s trade came as no surprise to many as we knew that was the plan. However, many may be surprised that he ended up in a Thunder uniform. During an interview, he shined light on the fact that he was supposed to be traded to Cleveland along with Paul George.
Knicks fans-I hope many of you are still with us and you’re able to keep your chin up this season. Carmelo Anthony has parted ways with New York and has joined the Oklahoma City Thunder. Hoodie Melo shall thrive.
Anthony took time to share some more details regarding his trade and this even dates back to this past Draft Night.
“Me and PG have a very close friendship,” Anthony said during a SiriusXM interview, per Ian Begley of ESPN.com. “Actually, it was funny because me and PG was supposed to be in Cleveland on draft night. We were communicating about that. The deal was actually done and it got called off on draft night, so me and PG stayed connected throughout the course of the season.”
It is rather odd and the Cavaliers would’ve been ultimately, even more unstoppable. In addition, he also spoke about the highly rumored trade to the Rockets and said that the deal also fell through. It makes you wonder if teams didn’t want to take a risk by bringing him on board.
The irony behind this whole thing? The Knicks face the Thunder on Opening Night.
