It’s interesting that you go to school and learn about the history of this country and how it came to be. From slavery to genocide to wars and PROTESTING. We learn about the Boston Tea Party with no problem. They protested in the most problematic way ever, but they protested and that event led to the American Revolution.
Protesting is in this country’s DNA and we encourage people to use their voice, especially kids because they are the future and we want them to be better than us. No better place than to foster that thinking than in school so it’s extremely disappointing when you have teachers putting their hands on students for using their “voice”.
ClickonDetroit reports a teacher has been put on leave after getting physical with a 6th grader, Stone Chaney for protesting the national anthem.
Chaney explained what happened.
The teacher consultant comes up behind me and snatches me out of my chair violently,” Stone said. “I was so confused. I didn’t know what was going on.
Chaney said that the teacher tried to force him to stand. He continues on to say,
“I don’t stand because I don’t pledge to a flag,” Stone said. “I pledge to God and family.”
This kid is exercising all of the rights that he has and he’s not doing anything wrong. He’s been sitting for during the national anthem for years but now it’s an issue.
