Hi, what are you looking for?

NBA

Here are the New NBA Rules on Draft Lottery and Resting Healthy Players

Two of the main issues the NBA has dealt with for the past couple of years are teams tanking for draft picks (I’m looking at you Philadelphia), and superstars resting during nationally televised games. The NBA’s board of governors has passed legislation to attempt to fix both problems.

To handle the issue of teams tanking, well excuse me, “trusting the process”, the NBA has instituted a system where the top 3 worse teams will share a 14% chance at getting the top pick. The top 3 worst teams percentage used to go in order from worse record to best; 25%, 19%, 9%.  The #1 lottery seed cannot drop lower than 5th, the #2 no lower than 6th, the #3 no lower than 7th, and the #4 no lower than 8th.

To handle the issue of teams resting their superstars during nationally televised games, the NBA will now be fining violating teams.  I’m sure we all remember the Warriors/Spurs game last year where both teams almost completely set out their starting line ups.

Both of the legislatures are a good start, but only time will tell if they actually will provide change.
