Directed by George Clooney,
Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns…the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence. This is a tale of very flawed people making very bad choices.
Based on a true story, Suburbicon chronicles the story of the Mayers, an African-American family who were harassed and threatened by their white neighbors in an effort to get them to move out of Levittown, Pennsylvania, in the 1950s.
BSO was on the red carpet at the film’s premier in Los Angeles Sunday night to discuss with the star’s the racially charged story and it’s place in today’s society, and who in the cast has the strongest hands.
Once you see the film you’ll understand why that question mattered.
