If it sounds to good to be true, it likely is. As was the case with the proposed meeting between NFL head Roger Goodell, Texans owner Bob McNair and Colin Kaepernick.
NBC’s Pro Football Talk reports that the sit meeting involving The Players Coalition, Goodell, McNair and Kaepernick, scheduled to take place Monday in Philadelphia, has been called off due to the league not accepting their invitation. ESPN’s Jim Trotter first broke the story.
“The league didn’t accept our invitation,” Eagles defensive back Malcolm Jenkins said Sunday, via the Associated Press. “At this point, the ball is in their court. We’ll continue to do what we’ve been doing. Guys are working around the league.”
Plans for a meeting first went into motion in response to McNair saying during the owners meetings earlier this month, “We can’t have the inmates running the prison.” After facing criticism, McNair attempted to back track by saying his comment wasn’t referring to players but to the league office’s relationship with the NFL’s 32 team owners.
