Republican Senator Wes Goodman of Ohio resigned from his position after confessing to having sex with a man in his Riffe Center office. Goodman was known to have anti-LGBT views so this news comes as a shocker. Goodman is also a married man.
Republican House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger was the first to find out about Goodman’s sexual misconduct in office. Rosenberger spoke to The Columbus Dispatch about his conversation with Goodman in which he confessed to his actions.
“I was alerted to details yesterday afternoon regarding his involvement in inappropriate behavior related to his state office,” said Rosenberger. “I met with him later in the day where he acknowledged and confirmed the allegations. It became clear that his resignation was the most appropriate course of action for him, his family, the constituents of the 87th House District and this institution.” (Via The Columbus Dispatch)
Goodman has since made his Twitter handle private. This most likely resulted from the backlash of his contradiction of hatred towards the LGBT community.
