The public has long marveled at the clairvoyant power of the cartoon “The Simpsons”; however not too many think of Chris Rock when it comes to predicting the future.
During an SNL performance back in 2014, Rock poked fun at the commercialization of holidays and joked that, “It doesn’t matter what the holiday is. Martin Luther King Day, it’s gonna be the same thing. You’re gonna be watching TV like, ‘These Toyotas are practically free at last, free at last! These Toyotas are practically free at last!'”
On Sunday, Dodge Ram did just that, incorporating Martin Luther King, Jr’s sermon, “The Drum Major Instinct,” in their Super Bowl commercial.
While the commercial was met with mixed reviews, Dodge did get permission from Ed Tidwell who manages King’s estate and intellectual property licensing.
