The Spurs still won’t be seeing their superstar Kawhi Leonard on the court anytime soon despite being cleared to play by doctors. Leonard is back in New York to rehab his quad injury, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Michael C. Wright of ESPN. Leonard has been at the National Basketball Players Association headquarters nursing his injury.
Sources said to ESPN that Spurs’ staff met with Leonard at the facility to keep up with his treatment. There is still no timetable for his return. This is Leonard’s second workout in NYC. The last trip was during the all-star break.
San Antonio stands at 44-32 and at fourth in the West. While they have done relatively well recently without the services of Leonard, they will be facing teams such as the Rockets, Trailblazers, and Pelicans to close the season so they need to make sure to keep their feet on the gas to secure homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
