We sure hope you liked our play on words and how we tied Easter in this subject. By now, you already know that there are a few games left in the Knicks season and this nightmare will soon be over. It’s time to look to the future and focus on the NBA Draft. Who can possibly team up with Kristaps Porzingis and resurrect the Knicks? We cooked up a couple of options.
No matter how terrible things are looking, Knicks fans always seem to keep their spirits high and attempt to disregard the losses. Its definitely some dark humor but it works. With rumors of current head coach Jeff Hornacek being fired, perhaps its best that we pay attention to lighter topics, such as possible draft picks for the team.
Its no doubt that their plates are going to be full in this upcoming offseason. Scott Perry, we’re looking at you because you’re on the clock. The team is desperate for a point guard, as well as other pieces. Frank Ntilikina could be molded into one with proper guidance considering this is why he was drafted.
Now, instead of making a list of 5-10 possibly prospects who fit, we’re going to give you a preview and provide you with two solid names which have been stirring the pot- Trae Young and Mikal Bridges.
Mikal Bridges is currently playing in the championship game for Villanova as Michigan certainly came to play. The junior offers a lot of versatility as lots of eyes are on him. Many mock drafts have him elsewhere but I feel that he’s not far from the eyes of Perry and co. Not only is his wingspan worth noting, 7-foot-2, but it’s importance allows him to be a major rim protector as he averages 1.5 steals as well as 1.1 blocks per game. This is something that many don’t say but I believe that he’s demonstrated that he will make that adjustment from playing college to the professionals. His 3-point shooting is even more astonishing as he’s pushing 44% of completed 3-point shots.
He hit 18 3-point shots against Kansas during the Final Four. Enough said; he’s an all-around player.
Next up is Trae Young. Although Young may be young, pun totally intended, you can’t rule out his potential. Remember, LeBron never went to college and look at him now. After completing his freshman year in Oklahoma, he will be entering the Draft. Young made quite some noise as he led the nation in points and not to mention assists per game. A few people have labeled him as one of the greatest shooters of all time and this is exactly something the Knicks need. Young averaged 27.4 points per game and has been compared to Steph Curry. Are you hype? Feel free to do so.
Young also went on record to say, “It would be blessing to get drafted by the Knicks.” I know what you’re thinking- every rookie would say this. It makes sense but that’s still appealing because he could’ve said being drafted by any team would be a blessing.
Its still early but once that pick gets announced, it’s time to get to work.
