Over the past four years, Kawhi Leonard has been known as the best defender against LeBron James. He’s a 2x defensive player of the year and 3x All-NBA defensive first team. Now, Boston’s Marcus Morris has a say about the way he defends James also.
Per Jay King of The Athletic, Morris said
“Personally, I think probably the best guy defending him in the league, outside of Kawhi.”
Marcus Morris not shying away from matchup with LeBron: “Personally, I think probably the best guy defending him in the league, outside of Kawhi.”

NBA.com has Morris at 75th among forwards in defensive win shares in 2017-18 so it’s not the best ranking to be at but anything can happen in the playoffs. Morris will have to put his money where his mouth is as James just waxed the one seeded Raptors in a 4-0 sweep and has come through in clutch moments late in games. The Celtics will look to continue their magical playoff run without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.
Boston hosts Cleveland tomorrow in Game 1 at 3:30PM ET on ABC. Flip the pages to see reactions from Twitter to Morris’ comments.
