The Daily Beast reports that Catfish host Nev Schulman has been accused of sexual misconduct by a participant of the show. An MTV spokesperson said in a statement:
We take these allegations very seriously. We’re working with Critical Content, our third-party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation.
Ayissha Morgan, who appeared on the show in 2015, posted two videos on her YouTube channel over the weekend alleging that she was sexually harassed by Schulman throughout the taping of her episode. Morgan claims that she expressed to Schulman that she was a lesbian, but that he tried to convince her to “reevaluate” her sexual preference and to have sex with him, inviting her into his hotel room, and allegedly making sexual advances towards her.
Nev’s response:
The behavior described in this video did not happen and I’m fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth. I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions—but these claims are false.
Production and airing of the show, now in its seventh season, is suspended until further notice.
