He literally chose New York because he sees an opportunity here.
In a recent interview, Fizdale shared that he wants to bring tradition back to NY. You might be thinking, “What tradition?” Think back to when times were fun and the team was actually making you excited to watch a Tuesday night game.
“I know my history — that’s the one thing I know,” Fizdale told The Post’s Marc Berman while attending the Bill Bradley tribute gla at the Museum of Natural History Monday night. “I’ve watched all of their old teams. That’s part of why I wanted to be here. I want to have an unselfish ballclub just like them.”
One can even speculate that he wants to get fans connected again to the Knicks. He’s certainly up for the challenge.
“The biggest challenge is the expectations from the fan base and from the media,” Fizdale said. “You know that coming into this. I actually like there’s an expectation here to have a team playing in May. Who wouldn’t want to be part of getting a team back to that? You’ve either got to go after it or be afraid and I’ve never been afraid. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
