Yesterday, there were various reports circulating around that disgruntled San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard reached out to Lebron James about the stylistics of playing together in Los Angeles. Brian Windhorst of ESPN told me last night that Lebron’s [James] camp denies that he’s had any contact with Leonard.
Fans of the purple and gold have salaciously desired all summer at the premise of a trio featuring James, Leonard, and Paul George that would all but give the reigning champion Golden State Warriors a run for their money. However, there are certainly some challenges prohibiting this juggernaut from materializing. The Spurs are still in the early stages of trade talks with the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers, and with the future of George largely unknown, this exponentially elevates the level of trepidation for hopeful Laker fans.
The good news, however, is that James declined his player option, thereby becoming an unrestricted free agent, and the Lakers are the odds on favorite to land him according to Vegas.
This offseason is quickly proving to be one of the most exciting ones in NBA league history.
