Nicki Minaj is stirring up controversy as the world awaits her fourth studio album “Queen”, with a few comments that have left her fans a little confused about her motives.
In an interview with Elle Magazine, Nicki says that she wasn’t aware that there were so many “modern-day prostitutes” and she wishes that women valued themselves more:
Whether you’re a stripper, or whether you’re an Instagram girl—these girls are so beautiful and they have so much to offer. But I started finding out that you give them a couple thousand dollars, and you can have sex with them. I was like, Yikes. It’s just sad that they don’t know their worth. It makes me sad as a woman. And it makes me sad that maybe I’ve contributed to that in some way.
Yikes is right. Whether or not Nicki’s celebrity status blocks her from real world issues, it’s hard to believe that she was unaware. Some of her fans are saying that these comments were a little misunderstood and that she meant women should value themselves more, sex worker or not. Others are saying she’s being a bit hypocritical seeing that she “sells sex” in majority of her shows and music videos.
The “Chun-Li” raptress then takes her girl-power statements to another level taking shots at women in the rap game:
I don’t need a man for a job. I’ve never had to f*ck for beats. I’ve never had to f*ck for a record deal. I don’t have those pressures. I get up when I want, shop when I want.
Now she would never say Cardi’s name, but after constantly mentioning “New York trap rappers” and seeing as she felt Cardi B being on Motorsport was unearned….
