In June, Lil Wayne reached a settlement to leave Birdman’s Cash Money label and walked away with over $10 million. He originally sued Birdman for $51 million. He also got the green light to release his highly-anticipated Carter V album which could see a release by the end of 2018. This comes after years of beefing over Wayne being able to release his music. The two grew up and saw success together as a member of their Hot Boyz group in the late 90s and early 2000s.
The annual Lil Weezyana Fest was held in New Orleans this weekend and Birdman was on stage with the fellow hometown star Lil Wayne. Birdman publicly apologized on stage for the beef and said “I knew this day was going to come, but I didn’t know when it was going to come.” He also said that he loves Wayne to death. Wayne showed the mutual love as he hugged Birdman.
Wayne and Baby then proceeded to perform the classic Cash Money record ‘Still Fly.’ Hopefully Wayne gets Carter V out before the end of the year. It’ll be interesting to see if Wayne returns to his old Carter 1 & 2 sounds on the fifth installment.
