A crazy situation out of Cincinnati has had their city buzzing this week over the last month where Officer Kevin Brown tased an 11-year-old girl outside of a Kroger’s grocery store when it had been suspected that her and two other friends shoplifted, per WCPO 9 Cinncinati. The incident occurred on August 6.
Cincinnati Police Department released a statement regarding what happened and claimed that the girl and two friends ignored the officer when approached and when they walked away, one of them was tased. He soon took the girl into custody and charged her with theft and obstructing official business.
When the young girl was in custody, he made the ridiculous claim that she’s the reason why there’s no grocery stores available to black people.
“The last thing I want to do is tase you like that,. That hurt my heart to do that to you. Then I got to listen to all these idiots out here in the parking lot tell me how I was wrong for tasing you.”
The girl was taken to Children’s Hospital Medical Center for an evaluation. Brown hit the girl with the Taser in the back and below the waist, according to new documents.
Cincinnati Police Union President Dan Hils sadly defended Brown and his actions in a statement to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
“I think the officer was trying to express to this juvenile suspect that there are consequences, not only to herself, but to others when you don’t respect the property rights of another.”
As far as Officer Brown, tasing the girl was found to be a violation of not declaring that he would use the Taser, using a Taser when not reasonably necessary, and also using race as a factor. The review of the investigation also stated that Brown knew that the girl and her friends were no real threat to him. Brown is now on restricted duty and will face a pre-disciplinary hearing.
